History
Salmonad was created by mondalf on the 10th of October 2023 when in response to questions about a new lore animal simply stated: "what about salmonad?". The response was instantly positive:
Salmonposting
An activity known as salmonposting has been known to occur where community members target a particular tweet and post salmonad replies en masse, without ever explaining the significance.
"Salmonads"
In January 2023 RayJ posted a tweet that implied the video included would be serious, but instead quickly cut to a parody hand puppet show called "Salmonads" along with a theme tune. The puppets say "help me" and "this is hell", implying a darker tone:

Variations
French Salmonad
French Salmonad (also known as Saumonad, or Le Salmonad) is Salmonad's French counterpart. He frequently appears to simply declare "SCANDALEUX!".
While some have claimed that he owns a perfume brand, RayJ insists that he owns a small bakery with a poorly designed queuing system and is always on the phone due to permanent disputes with the cheese suppliers.
His girlfriend works as the commissar for parking along the seine.
A video released in February 2024 by RayJ implied that French Salmonad's Bakery (named Les Scandaleux) is in financial trouble:

Chinese Salmonad was created by Lydicius. RayJ was initially concerned about the racial stereotyping involved.
