Origins

Some mentions were made regarding Shrimp Farming in early 2023 on the Monad Discord server. The most important occurrence was after the arrival of RayJ and his initial rambling about scientology-themed shrimp farming:

RayJ continued to run with this theme and build on the initial shrimp lore, detailing his shrimp farm and praising its quality.

ShrimpDEX

At some point RayJ began to mention "ShrimpDEX", a shrimp-oriented decentralized exchange.

The Shrimp Protocol is an open-source, peer-to-peer decentralized exchange (DEX), designed to empower the masses, not just the technocrats, to fully participate in a new economic reality. But to merely call it a "DEX" would be an oversimplification. This is not just a technical tool; it is a vehicle for socio-economic change, a decentralized, disintermediated alternative to traditional financial models.

It is unclear whether this was meant as a shitpost or a real endeavour but before long ShrimpDEX had a twitter account with hundreds of followers and posted the following video:

Shrampu-San

Shrampu-san appeared in a RayJ video simply titled "Shrampu-san". It should be noted that in the Monad Alignment Chart Shrampu-San is listed under 'neutral evil'. There is not enough information available to determine why.
